Dr. Peter Würtz is the Head of Molecular Epidemiology at the Computational Medicine Research Group, Institute of Health Sciences, University of Oulu, Finland. He has previously held an Academy of Finland Postdoctoral Researcher position.
Dr. Peter Würtz is PhD in physical chemistry and holds a docentship in epidemiology. His research focuses on applications of metabolomics in large population studies on cardiometabolic diseases with the aims of improved prevention and enhanced understanding of the disease mechanisms.
Dr. Würtz has led several large studies on metabolic signatures of risk factors for type 2 diabetes in young adults and uncovered novel biomarkers for cardiovascular disease.
